Pro Bowl Fan Voting Results Highlight Major Omissions of Veteran Quarterbacks

NEW YORK — The NFL has released the latest results of the 2026 Pro Bowl fan voting, revealing a significant shift in public preference as two of the league’s most decorated veteran quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson, have been largely bypassed by the electorate. The current totals suggest a changing of the guard, with fans prioritizing current statistical production over career accolades and name recognition.

Despite the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers remaining in the playoff hunt, Rodgers and Wilson have failed to crack the top three in quarterback voting in their respective conferences. In the AFC, the voting continues to be dominated by the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, the Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson, and the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen. The absence of Rodgers and Wilson from the leading group is notable, given their historical status as perennial Pro Bowl selections.

Rodgers, 42, has faced a difficult 2025 campaign marked by inconsistent offensive rhythm in New York. While he has provided veteran leadership, his statistical output has dipped below his career averages, leading fans to favor younger, more mobile passers. Similarly, while Russell Wilson has revitalized the Steelers’ offense since taking over the starting role, he has not garnered the massive fan support required to overtake established leaders in the AFC’s crowded quarterback field.

The Pro Bowl selection process utilizes a three-part voting system, divided equally among fans, players, and coaches. While the fan vote accounts for only one-third of the final decision, it serves as a critical barometer for a player’s popularity and national standing. Historically, “legacy” votes often carried veteran stars into the game even during down years; however, the 2026 totals indicate that fans are increasingly focused on weekly performance.

In the NFC, the voting is currently led by the Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts and the Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff. The surge in support for Goff, in particular, highlights the fan base’s appreciation for the Lions’ sustained success over the last two seasons.

The NFL confirmed that more than 15 million ballots have been cast since voting opened in late November. Beyond the quarterback position, the 2026 results show a strong concentration of votes for the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs, who lead the league in total player selections among the top vote-getters at their respective positions.

Final rosters for the Pro Bowl Games, which will once again feature a flag football format and skill competitions, are scheduled to be announced in early January following the conclusion of the regular season. While Rodgers and Wilson could still theoretically earn a spot through the player and coach ballots, the current fan trends suggest they will face an uphill battle to secure an invitation to the annual event.
